Meet the Turtle Bay Team

DANNA HOLCK

VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER

A native of Hawaii, Danna Holck returns to Oahu after two decades on the mainland and in Puerto Rico, serving most recently as general manager for Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa in Rio Grande. Ms. Holck has held numerous general manager and executive-level positions at major brand properties in resort destinations throughout the United States. She began her career in hospitality sales and marketing at hotels in California, Hawaii and Florida.

"This is a full-circle career trajectory for me," said Ms. Holck, referring to her return home to Hawaii. "I'm looking forward to working with my team at Turtle Bay Resort and to reconnecting with my kama'aina friends of many, many, years. It's good to be home!"

Danna Holck, who is of Hawaiian, Japanese and Norwegian descent, was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, on Oahu. Ms. Holck grew up in a military family -- her father was a soldier with the U.S. military's most highly decorated unit, the 442nd Infantry. She embraced the traditional values of her native Hawaii, including dancing the hula from age 5 and dreaming of becoming a professional hula dancer. Ms. Holck, who is trained in judo and jujitsu, attended the University of Hawaii, School of Travel Industry Management.

BRIAN HUNNINGS

RESORT MANAGER

Brian is a hospitality professional with over 25 years of experience.  He credits his success to building strong teams through hands-on leadership and high expectations.  He was most recently executive assistant manager at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in charge of all operations including the rooms division, food and beverage, engineering, spa and security.  For 4 years, Brian was area director of food and beverage for Starwood Hotels & Resorts overseeing F&B operations in Starwood’s Hawaii and French Polynesia resorts.  Earlier in his career he held management positions at the Grand Wailea, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.  

Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland.  He holds a certificate level certification from the British Guild of Master Sommeliers. In 2011, he received national recognition for  “Manager of the Year” by the American Hotel & Lodging Associationand in 2011, the Na Poe Pa’ahana Award for “Outstanding Hospitality Manager of the Year” by the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association.   Brian enjoys traveling and creating new beverage recipes.  He is dedicated to enhancingsustainability and supporting local farmers, fishermen and artisans.

Brian describes himself as a huge geek who loves sci-fi movies and comic books.  

BRAD DOELL

DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

Brad brings over 23 years of resort leadership, marketing, sales and operations to Turtle Bay. He has been instrumental in leading the marketing strategies at upscale and luxury brands. Throughout his extensive hospitality career, he has held executive leadership positions at key resorts in Hawaii and California. Brad is a proud Canadian born in Medicine Hat, Alberta a small city of 75,000 and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Brad enjoys cycling, hiking, the beach, the outdoors and is a big fan of the Canadian past-time Hockey (favorite team Calgary Flames).

KENI SUMPTER

DIRECTOR OF SALES

For twelve years Keni Sumpter served as Director of Sales for Doubletree by Hilton Alana in Waikiki. Most recently he performed as Regional Group Sales Manager representing The Kahala Hotel & Resort and Makena Beach & Golf Resort on Maui. Prior to both of these positions he progressed over seventeen years in various capacities at the then Hilton Turtle Bay Golf & Tennis Resort eventually attaining Assistant Director of Sales.

LAUREN RAWLINS

DIRECTOR OF LEISURE SALES

Lauren has nearly a decade of experience in the hospitality industry.  Rawlins earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was raised in Kahaluu on Oahu. 

TIARE TIPOTI

DIRECTOR OF CATERING & CONFERENCE SERVICES

Tiare was raised on the North Shore of O‘ahu and is a proud graduate of Kahuku High School, home of the Red Raiders.  Shortly after graduation she left Hawai‘i for 5 years living and working in New Zealand and Seattle before returning in 2005.  Upon her return she joined the TBR Ohana thus starting her career in hospitality. 

Her journey began in Food and Beverage when she started out as a Private Dining Captain and F&B Cashier before transitioning into Conference Services and Administration where she was a Conference Concierge, the Administrative Assistant to the F&B Director/Resort Manager Tom Cross, Catering Manager, Conference Services Manager and Banquet Manager.  After a year in Banquets she returned to Conference Services yet continued to support and be greatly involved in Banquet Services

 

Tiare is happily married to her wonderful husband Cisco, they have 3 beautiful children Taiana ,Talia and Tautai  with whom they enjoy spending time with.

 

MIKILANI IKALANI

CATERING SALES MANAGER

Mikilani was raised on the North Shore of O'ahu and grew up playing on the shores of Turtle Bay. Now Mikilani has returned to her childhood playground helping couples make their wedding dreams a reality. Mikilani received her Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University Of Hawaii, Manoa and has amassed over twenty years of experience in the food service industry serving in all capacities from service line staff through Store Manager at the famous local eatery, Zippy’s Restaurants. Mikilani originally joined the team at Turtle Bay as an Assistant Restaurant Manager and while observing all of the weddings on property she quickly developed an interest in becoming a Catering Event Manager. When a position opened up she submitted her application and prayed for the best…the rest as they say is history. Mikilani services numerous weddings annually from elopements to large three to four hundred guest events. Mikilani shares, “It is truly rewarding to be able to meet my clients and their guests as strangers and embrace them as my ‘Ohana. It brings me great joy to be able to share with them the spirit of not just Aloha, but the true spirit of Hawai’i.”

SHERI CHANG

CATERING SALES MANAGER

For more than 15 years Sheri has been in the wedding business. Sheri has shared and demonstrated her extraordinary talent at Turtle Bay since 2006. Sheri loves meeting new people and making people happy, finding her position at Turtle Bay to be the perfect fit for her. She has successfully made clients' dreams reality, including a bride's wish to be married by a Rastafarian Pastor. Sheri contributed to the success of countless events at the resort with her diverse experience, skills and talent. Her first marketing skills and relationship with Turtle Bay began when she obtained a contract with the Hotel to sell her creations in the hotel lobby as well as teach Hawaiiana crafting to hotel guests.

MELINA PATRICK

CATERING & CONFERENCE SERVICE MANAGER

Melina has over seven years of event management expertise from various sectors within the events industry. In 2006, during her college years in California, Melina began her love for events by starting her own event planning company called Sweet M Events as a side business while working at a restaurant, going to school at CSU Long Beach, and finishing her internship experience at travel agency. Just before graduating with a Bachelor’s in Recreation & Leisure Studies in 2008, Melina took a full time position at CTC Destination & Meeting Management in Long Beach, where her sales and event planning skills could really shine as a Meeting & Event Manager. Here Melina oversaw the sales and execution for all types events, from small corporate retreats to city-wide annual conferences. Three years later, Melina moved to Honolulu where she became the Events Coordinator for the Hawaiian Humane Society. It was here that she could merge her love for animals and events while helping a great local non-profit. Melina planned an average of 75 special events per year at the Humane Society, ranging from pet-adoption events with 20 guests to high-profile fundraisers with 4,000 attendees. But after two successful years of helping the animals, she decided to make her way back to the hospitality industry.Melina has now joined the Turtle Bay team as a Conference Services Manager, where she services numerous events annually from intimate ceremonies on the beach to large corporate conferences. With over seven years, and a wide variety of event management experience under her belt, Melina is excited and eager to help you plan your dream wedding or the perfect company retreat here on Oahu’s North Shore.

BRINA FRITZSCHE

GROUP SALES MANAGER

Brina has 7 years of experience in the hospitality industry on three different Hawaiian Islands, most recently as Group Sales Manager for three Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Ka’anapali, Maui.   Fritzsche earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  She was born and raised in Kailua on Oahu and enjoys Cross Fit. 

Darcie Patlidzanov

GROUP SALES MANAGER

Darcie is a local girl born and raised in Mililani on Oahu. She has 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, starting her career in Front Office as a Guest Service Agent and progressed over the years in various roles eventually attaining Assistant Front Office Manager for the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa. Darcie then transitioned to Sales and was promoted to Group Sales Manager representing four Starwood Waikiki Resorts including Luxury Collection, Westin and Sheraton Brands. She is excited to now be part of the Turtle Bay Ohana and enjoys the beach and traveling to indulge in cultures around the world. 

CARYL LEE

Leisure Sales Manager

Most of Caryl’s leisure sales career has been focused on this wonderful destination - Hawai‘i. It started with a region sales position on the mainland with Aloha Airlines, followed by flight attendant training; her love for the islands has really grown. She has lived on both O‘ahu and Kona, while working for hotels where her love for Hawai‘i solidified. Caryl grew up in Southern California, near the beach in Long Beach. She has two awesome children who are both married. Most importantly, she recently became a grandmother to a new little girl. Her favorite pastime is spending as much time as she can with family and friends. Caryl’s other interests include hiking, walking her two golden retrievers, Dodger baseball, anything to do with UCLA, cooking, musical theatre, reading mystery novels and most of all traveling.

CONRAD AQUINO

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Conrad Aquino is the executive chef at Turtle Bay Resort.  He has held a number of culinary positions of increasing responsibility for leading properties in Hawaii, including the Royal Hawaiian and the Kahala Resort. Chef Aquino’s skills and exemplary reputation during his years with Starwood Hotels resulted in his being selected as task force chef for many of the company’s properties throughout Hawaii. Mr. Aquino was born, raised and educated in Hawaii, were he also studied under a number of renowned chefs. He received his Culinary Arts degree from Kapiolani College, and gained international culinary experience through internships in England. He is the past recipient of numerous “Manager of the Quarter” honors. A man of many interests, Chef Aquino is a certified private pilot who attended the Hickam Air Force Base Flight Academy.

JOHN ARMSTRONG

CHEF DE CUISINE

John is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University and worked at several notable hotels on the mainland before coming to Hawaii. He began his culinary career in the Islands working for The Halekulani as Sous Chef. He previously came to Turtle Bay Resort as Chef de Cuisine for 21 Degrees North in 2003 and now Pa'akai.
