Turtle Bay Resort, the most experiential resort on Oahu is embracing a balance of work and play in a fascinating meetings program. Cutting-edge companies in search of a fresh approach to Leadership and Teambuilding are packing up their offices and bringing them to the beach here on the Fabled North Shore.

The concept is called “Workation,” and is designed to:

• Create a relaxed, positive atmosphere
• Encourage innovation, creativity and collaboration
• Promote wellness, adventure and the Spirit of Aloha

The Resort works with each business on a tailored plan that ranges from beach workout activties, on-site spa treatment sessions, expert-led relaxation and meditation breaks to team sky diving, suring SUP and horseback riding experiences- all on Oahu's Fabled North Shore.

Turtle Bay Resort’s top-of-the-line meeting spaces provide all the comfort and technological connectivity needed for a seamless transition from the office without disruption to customers – and give employees sweeping ocean views, as well as a premium on-site food and beverage service, while they work.

Portland, Oregon based e-commerce company has chosen Turtle Bay Resort for its Workation getaway on several occassions. The company’s 70 employees enjoy a workday that starts early, leaving the afternoon free to experience Hawaii’s most storied coastline.

The Workation program also encourages the enhancement of important outdoor and cultural sites along the North Shore through giveback opportunities, promoting stewardship, with an emphasis on traditional Hawaiian values such as laulima (cooperation) and m?lama (to take care of). Participants come away with a sense of accomplishment and a stronger connection to Hawaii. Opportunities include habitat maintenance for 117 species of birds at the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge; agricultural restoration through the planting and harvesting of taro; shoreline clean-ups along Turtle Bay Resort’s adjacent coastal dunes, beaches, bays and tide pools; and the maintenance of cultural sites in Waimea Valley’s 1,875 beautiful acres.

Kawela Barbeque

Looking to dive into Hawaii’s great outdoors? Enjoy an afternoon of beach games, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding while immersed in the natural beauty of Kawela Bay. Then slow things down for an incredible meal right at the bay, with choices including grilled vegetable lettuce wraps, Pulehu rib eye steaks, lamb chops and shiracha aioli gilled shrimp. Ice-cold beer and a selection of wine and tropical cocktails round out the menu.

Time: Four hours

Learn about Hawaiian history, culture and tradition by participating in a traditional hukilau at the resort’s Bay Beach. Work as a team to gather a delicious catch from the sea for the evening’s meal. Led by a Hawaii artisan, guests will also learn the basics of traditional hula and storytelling. Afterward, relax on the resort’s expansive lawn for an unforgettable luau featuring your very own catch, fresh from the sea.

Scavenger Hunt

Nothing beats hands-on learning, especially when your “classroom” is Hawaii’s Fabled North Shore. To earn a passing grade at our scavenger hunt, teams compete to be the first to identify and photograph select North Shore and/or resort landmarks, with the final clue leading to the best reward of all – a delicious beach barbeque shared with friends at one of three breathtaking locations: Kawela Bay, Bay Beach Lawn or Kuilima Point.

Time: Up to three hours

“Chef Kahuna” Competition

If you’ve ever watched a cooking show and found yourself thinking ‘I could do that!’ now you have the chance to show off your skills, working with a team to wow a panel of esteemed North Shore judges with taste, presentation and creativity. Under the guidance of the resort’s chef, teams create one dish using a selection of Hawaii-sourced products, all set against the stunning ocean scenery of Kuilima Point. The winning team earns a special prize from the chef. This friendly competition is followed by a celebratory toast and mouth-watering feast on-site. Bragging rights included!
