Three Stops for Shrimp on Oahu's North Shore

The North Shore is known for its beautiful beaches, epic surf and friendly residents. But did you know it’s also known for its world famous shrimp trucks?

Here are three North Shore Oahu shrimp trucks and shacks we recommend you take a shrimp stop at next time you visit us at Turtle Bay. All of them are only about a five minute drive from your hotel room. You could also rent bikes from the North Shore Outpost located near our tennis courts if you do not have a vehicle.

You hear our name, Turtle Bay Resort, and assume that there are turtles (honu) here. Of course you’re right! Turtle Bay Resort is one of the prime locations to see honu on the beautiful island of Oahu.

The two types of sea turtles most frequently observed at Turtle Bay Resort are the green sea turtle and Hawksbill sea turtle. The green sea turtle is listed as a threatened species under federal and state law. Hawaiian green sea turtles have shown a good population recovery in recent years, although they are still plagued with a papilloma virus that causes disfiguring tumors. Hawksbill sea turtles are sighted much less frequently than the greens.

Here is a guide to sea turtles on Oahu.
