O’ahu’s North Shore is known for its world famous surf spots and competitions.
A part of Hawaiian culture and heritage, surfing has grown in popularity to become a professional sport and a 50 billion per year industry.
You hear about the surfing legends and today’s athletes but beneath every great wave rider is a high-quality custom board—a work of art handcrafted by a surfer’s most trusted partner, a shaper.
Join Billabong in a Salute to Pipeline – Shapers Edition Exhibit available now through February 28, 2020 at Turtle Bay Resort's main lobby and in front of Surfer, The Bar.
Come See dozens of surfboards up close and learn about the shapers behind each one.
Over the last half-century, a few shapers have focused on shaping equipment explicitly designed for the steep, hollow, unpredictable characteristics of Pipeline's fabled break. This exhibit is Billabong Pipe Masters’ salute to the breakthrough shapers who changed the way surfers rode Pipeline. But it is also a chance to honor the elite corps of shapers who have provided surfers at this spot with the custom equipment and vital confidence that each surfer needs to challenge the Banzai Pipeline.
