Ride Along with Turtle Bay Resort Newest Insider’s Play List
NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HI (October 07, 2013) – Turtle Bay’s Insider’s Play Lists are designed to help guests gain a richer and more gratifying travel experience while visiting Oahu’s fabled North Shore by offering tips on how to explore the destination like a local. Each list is authored by a hand-selected North Shore luminary, from legendary surf icons and artists to resort ambassadors and employees.
Turtle Bay Resort Stables Manager Alicia McCumbers grew up on the Leeward side of Oahu, where she began riding and showing horses at a young age. She followed her passion to the North Shore where horses were plentiful and participated in rodeos, barrel racing and team roping. Turning her lifelong interest into a career, Alicia began working with the horses at Turtle Bay Resort in 1989.
Ride along with her North Shore Play List:
· Trek the Laie Falls Trail. This moderate 2-hour hike provides beautiful ocean views, mountain hiking through a Norfolk pine forest and a waterfall at the top.
· Stop by the Kahuku Land Farms Fruit Stand for a snack. It is home to the best fried banana lumpia and ice-cold coconut water.
· The Fiji Market & Curry Shop near the Kahuku Sugar Mill has a great selection of unique food items and different cultural cuisines. Looking for a coconut scraper? They have one here!
· Join me at The Stables for a 75-minute guided Sunset Ride. The pictures are priceless, and the North Shore views at sunset can’t be beat. For children 6 years old and under, Turtle Bay also offers a 20-minute one-on-one Pony Experience, which provides a chance to pet, groom and ride a pony.
