Turtle Bay is Turning 40 & More Fabulous Than Ever

Turtle Bay is Turning 40 & More Fabulous Than Ever

Resort Kicks Off its 40th Anniversary With a “40 for 40” Package

NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HI (April 19, 2012) – There’s one North Shore on Oahu. There’s one resort on it. And there’s only one 40th Anniversary! Starting now through May 31, Turtle Bay will jump start the hotel's 40th anniversary celebration with a 40 for 40 promotion. The special package includes a $40 credit per room (two people per room maximum, three-night minimum) redeemable on food, beverages and activities. The anniversary celebration will continue through the end of the year with new promotions and room specials revealed monthly. Visit the resort’s new website and click on the 40th Anniversary tab.

“The resort opened its doors 40 years ago, so this anniversary is certainly a significant milestone. We intend to celebrate by offering guests a variety of special offers now through December. In doing so, we will acknowledge the uniqueness of the destination, Turtle Bay’s position within this miraculous and organic place and four decades of memorable experiences guests have enjoyed here on Oahu’s fabled North Shore,” said Danna Holck, Turtle Bay’s general manager.

The hotel opened in May 1972 as Del Webb’s Kuilima Resort Hotel & Country Club and was built on a small peninsula of Pacific coastline, which provides every room with an ocean view. The setting, overlooking a natural surf break, is considered to be one of the most scenic and eco-significant in the Hawaiian Islands.

Hyatt managed the resort until August 1983 when Hilton Hotels & Resort entered the scene. It was renamed Turtle Bay Golf & Tennis Resort in deference to the large numbers of migrating sea turtles that gather in the crystal clear water and on the white sand beaches of Kawela Bay.

A new consortium of investors took over the resort in February 2010. Today, Turtle Bay is managed by Benchmark Hospitality International. The recent rebranding of Turtle Bay is intended to transition the resort to a dynamic destination synonymous with the world’s most monumental surfing. Additionally, it was initiated as part of a refreshing of the entire hotel in anticipation of the 40th anniversary which includes the opening of Surfer, The Bar in association with Surfer magazine, the just completed lobby renovation and addition of a new lobby lounge and the introduction of a new generation of life enhancing guest experiences.
