Turtle Bay Resort to Host Third-Annual North Shore Ocean Fest on June 7

 

NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HI (March 20, 2014) – Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s Fabled North Shore is hosting the third-annual North Shore Ocean Fest on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free fundraising event for the nonprofit North Shore Education Coalition offers family-friendly educational activities for all ages, as well as a student art and poetry contest and short film competition.

 

WHAT:                 2014 North Shore Ocean Fest to benefit the North Shore Education Coalition



Participating partners include: Hui O Hau’ula, Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, Malama Pupukea-Waimea, NOAA Pacific Islands Regional Office, and The Monk Seal Foundation.

 

WHEN:             11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014

 

WHERE:           Turtle Bay Resort, 57-091 Kamehameha Hwy., Kahuku

 

PRICE:             Free; food and beverage will be available for purchase from vendor booths

 

ACTIVITIES:     This annual fundraiser for the North Shore Ocean Education Coalition will support marine education and ocean awareness. Activities will include: Educational booths, expert speakers, film screenings, a silent auction, food and vendor booths, music and hula. 

 

                        Themed “Protect Our Reef,” the event will feature art, poetry and film contests for all K-12 students living from Kaaawa to Waialua; the deadline for submissions is May 1, 2014. Submissions will be displayed at the North Shore Ocean Fest and recognized at a special awards ceremony. Winners will be notified by May 15, 2014. Application forms are available at northshoreoceanfest.com.
