You can’t go wrong with a juicy beef patty, melted cheddar and mayonnaise dripping down your fingers kind of cheeseburger. America’s favorite meal is so sinfully satisfying we aren't surprised it has its own national holiday: National Cheeseburger Day celebrated September 18th!
Where did this mouthwatering concoction come from? Lionel Sternberger is reputed to have introduced the cheeseburger in 1926 at the age of 16. He was working as a fry cook at his father's Pasadena, California sandwich shop, "The Rite Spot," and "experimentally dropped a slab of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger." We’re all glad he did!
In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, we are celebrating our three favorite North Shore, Oahu burgers that call Turtle Bay home.
Shore Break Wagyu Kabayaki Cheeseburger
Roy’s Beach House, Kuilima Cove
The open-air eatery located right on the beach started serving amazing meals about a month ago but it’s no surprise their Shore Break Wagyu Kabayaki Cheeseburger is already a hit. The thick patty is a hybrid of Kobe and American beef and smothered with cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions and a hefty helping of bacon. All these treats are sandwiched between a bun smothered in parmesan mayo and toasted. Grab your burger, served with perfectly salt and pepper seasoned steak fries and soak in the ocean view. You can even dig your toes in the sand if you want to.
Insider tip: Ask for a side of their house made Siracha sauce for some extra spice or throw on some fresh avocado.

The Point Burger
The Point: Sunset & Pool Bar, Pool Deck
What can we say; The Point is on point with its grass-fed beef cheeseburger. Savor an 8oz Big Island Beef patty covered in your choice of cheese, topped with Pupukea greens and Hau’ula tomato and then sandwiched between sweet toasted taro buns. It’s served up with crispy French fries. We suggest you upgrade them to the Cajun seasoned fries with a side of ranch. The view at The Point is amazing. Here the sunsets are breathtaking and the skills of the surfers you’ll watch off in the distance can be jaw-dropping.
Insider tip: Add some avocado and bacon!

Classic American Cheeseburger
