Visit the Only Beer Garden on the North Shore
Our North Shore insiders love to give tips on where to go in and around Kahuku. This month, Marissa, a Marketing Manager at Turtle Bay, shares her favorite “pau hana” (after work) spots.
“Kahuku Beer Garden is one of my favorite “pau hana” (after work) spots!” says Marissa. “They’re one of the only places on the North Shore that carry local, unique, and hard-to-find craft beers that you’d otherwise have to travel to Honolulu or scavenge around the island for.”
With more than ten exclusive beers on draft to try, plus a selection of wine and hard kombucha on tap, there’s something for everyone. “Another perk,” says Marissa, “is that there’s an entire refrigerator wall filled withcraft beer, wine, and spirits that you can take to go if you want to enjoy your beverages back at the hotel or at home.”
Graduating from Sunset Beach Elementary School and Kahuku High School, the Kahuku Beer Garden owners are lifelong North Shore residents. ) They’re passionate, friendly, and always ready to chat.
If you can’t decide on a beverage (there are so many to choose from, after all), you can purchase a flight consisting of smaller servings of 4-6 types of beer so you can taste them all.
The vibe? Marissa says it’s “cute, quaint, and rustic, with a distinct North Shore feel.” If you’re searching for a local atmosphere, Kahuku Beer Garden is the spot.
Best Time to Visit: Sunday-Thursday, 12-9 PM; Friday-Saturday, 12-10 PM
Helpful Tips: Kahuku Beer Garden is BYOF (bring your own food). While they don’t have a menu, there are several food trucks in the same complex. Kids are permitted if visiting with an adult (21 years or older) and pets are allowed.
Meet Marissa: Born and raised on O’ahu, Marissa’s personal connection to Turtle Bay is the ocean. Her favorite North Shore memory is fishing at Stables Beach and surfing the point in front of Sunset Bar, then heading somewhere on the resort for a bite to eat!
