Get a True Taste of the North Shore at Farm to Barn Cafe & Juicery

Our North Shore insiders love to give tips on where to go in and around Kahuku. For our first post in the series, Marisa, Turtle Bay’s head of glamping and events, shares a special Oahu travel tip.

Charming Haleiwa is a historic surf town and cultural hub of the North Shore. A quick 25-minute bike ride from Turtle Bay will reveal excellent surf shops, unique art galleries, and underrated restaurants with local style and country ambiance. Farm to Barn Cafe & Juicery (66-320 Kamehameha Hwy.) is one of those spots.

“Farm to Barn is one of my favorite places on earth,” says Marisa. “The true sense of mālama ‘āina (caring for the land) is in every detail. The food is incredible, with almost everything sourced from their majestic yet humble farm – it leaves me feeling inspired, nourished, and stoked.”

On the Farm to Barn menu, you’ll find vegan Ulu waffles made with local breadfruit, a Banzai burger (stuffed with greens, caramelized onions, cheddar, tomato, and house-made basil aioli), and plenty of fresh salads.

Unexpected Reason to Visit:
More than consciously-sourced ingredients, Farm to Barn offers cultural immersion. Marisa notes, “Local artists take the stage, strumming their acoustic guitars with the cascading Waianae Mountain Range as the backdrop.”

A schedule of weekly yoga classes gives you another reason to check out this small, women-owned business. The program is on their website, but check Instagram for class updates, which are subject to cancellation depending on the weather. “I love taking the sunset yoga classes on the farm lawn,” says Marisa. “Go for a 5:30 pm yoga class followed by a delicious healthy dinner and live music.

Travel Tip:
Parking is limited. Carpool with friends to make things easier upon arrival. Or head here by bike for an added adventure.
