The Original Fazio Golf Course at Turtle Bay
Though his nephew Tom is in many circles better known, experts in the industry know that George Fazio has all the skills of his prominent kin. It certainly shows at this Turtle Bay Resort golf course, where his original design from 40 years ago still holds its own today.
The Fazio design is generally more forgiving than the Palmer Course. The walker-friendly layout meanders among traditional Hawaiian Palms while skirting the fabled North Shore on numerous occasions. The Fazio Course holds its own as a classic Hawaiian golf experience, and is perfect for those enjoying multiple days at the resort (and a great primer for the Palmer experience).
Over the years the Fazio Course has played host to a number of prominent golf events, including:
- The LPGA Tour's Hawaiian Open
- The Inaugural Champions Tour Skins Game, which featured Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Gary Player, and Chi Chi Rodriguez
Fazio Course Statistics
Open Since: 1972
Designer: George Fazio
Design Style: Seaside links with an accommodating resort feel
Type: Daily fee, with preferred rates available for hotel guests and local residents
Practice Facilities: Practice area including target greens, chipping area, and putting green
Turf Grasses: The fairways are a combination of Bermuda and Paspalum grass with recently renovated Paspalum greens
The Fazio Course is generally considered the more forgiving of the two courses for Turtle Bay Resort golf, but that doesn't mean it can't pack a punch. Holes are receptive off the tee, but the greens are raised and somewhat small, making for challenging approaches and short game play.
The courses at Turtle Bay offer a variety of rate options to satisfy the needs of our guests. Please see the rate table below for information, and we always encourage our guests to contact our team to ensure they choose the best possible option for their needs.
Please note: All rates on the Fazio Course include green fees, golf car (unless otherwise stated) and practice balls. Rates are valid through May 31st 2016.
