Highlights from a Winter to Remember

As the winter surf season comes to a conclusion and we bid our adieus to what was truly one of the greatest stretches of surf in history, we wanted to take a moment and highlight three of our favorite moments from the 2015-16 El Nino-fueled North Shore winter.

The Eddie Goes
For one day, the eyes of the world were cast on Waimea Bay as The Eddie ran under historic conditions. At the end of the day, the North Shore’s favorite son, John John Florence, would find himself on the podium and into the annals of surf lore. It was truly a day of days.

Perfection at Pipe
When the conditions weren’t maxed out and straining the buoys this winter, the North Shore bore witness to some decidedly perfect but less than lethal conditions for the Volcom Pipe Pro, all of which suited 11-time world champ Kelly Slater who came away with yet another event win.

Six Ways to Spoil Mom on the North Shore

She’s always there for you and she deserves to feel special not just this Mother’s Day but every day. Here are some tips on places to visit and things to do that may guarantee your spot as mom’s favorite kid. Some are seasonal, others are year round.

1. PICK HER UP WITH SOME JOE- Every mom loves coffee! Stop at Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa located in the North Shore Market Place and grab her one of their fancy espresso beverages like the Coconator (dark chocolate, coconut, steamed milk, espresso and whipped cream) or the Mocha Freeze ( vanilla icecream blended with espresso and topped off with whipped cream- look out Frappuccino! ) If mom isn't a coffee fan there's also tea, smoothies and acai bowls. Coffee Gallery also serves up healthy and vegan pastries, desserts and lunch items.
