2017 Turtle Bay Open

The 2017 Turtle Bay Open, played on the scenic George Fazio and the legendary Arnold Palmer courses, will be held October 21-22, 2017. This event started its tradition with the Turtle Bay Amateur, and now in its 15th year, continues a new tradition by introducing the Turtle Bay Open for both local professionals and amateurs. The 2017 Turtle Bay Open proves to be one of the most prestigious events on Oahu.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT 

36-hole stroke play all flights.  USGA Rules and Local Turtle Bay Open Rules shall apply. The tournament champion shall be the player with the lowest 36-hole gross score. 

  • The 2017 Turtle Bay Open Tournament Committee has set a field limit of 224 amateurs and professionals. 
  • Electric carts will be provided during tournament play. Two carts per foursome. 
  • Players must register 30 minutes prior to tee time. 
  • Tee times for Saturday rounds will be posted after 12 noon on Wednesday, October 20, 2017.
  • The Professional & Championship Division will have Saturday and Sunday morning single tee start times beginning at 7:10am. A, B, C, Senior, Women’s A and Women’s B Flights will have 8:00am shotgun start times on Saturday and Sunday morning. 
  • Distance-Measuring Devices that measure or gauge distance only will be allowed during the tournament, including mobile phones or multi-function devices. 
  • Metal or ceramic spikes will not be allowed on the course. Any player wearing metal or ceramic spikes will be disqualified from the tournament. 
  • All Professionals in this event will adhere to the policies and governance of the PGA of America - Aloha Section. 
  • All participants shall adhere to the policies of Turtle Bay Golf while on property, including the day of the practice round. 

DRESSCODE: While on property, players shall present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming. Blue jeans, cutoff shorts, T-shirts with no collar shall not be worn; this includes the practice round. During the competition all Professionals shall wear long pants and adhere to the Tournament Standards of Competition as outlined by the Aloha Section PGA. The Committee shall strictly enforce these conditions.

ELIGIBILITY 

  • All Ages: Open to all golfers with a valid USGA GHIN Handicap.
  • Handicap Breakdown: 
  • Professional: Open
  • Championship: 0-4.9*
  • A Flight: 5-9.9*
  • B Flight: 10-14.9*
  • C Flight: 15-23*
  • Senior Flight: 0-23* (50 years and older)
  • Women's A Flight: 0-9.9*
  • Women's B Flight: 10-21*
    * Handicaps based on index as of 9/15/2017. All flights must have a minimum of 8 players.

SCHEDULE

Saturday, October 21

  • The Professional & Championship flights will play the Palmer course. Single Tee start at 7:10am.
  • Flights: A, B, C, Senior Flight and Women's A and B Flights will the Fazio course with a shotgun at 8:00am.

Sunday, October 22

  • The Profesional & Championship flights will play the Fazio course with a single tee start at 7:10am.
  • Flights: A, B, C, Senior Flight and Women's A and B Flights will the Palmer course with a shotgun at 8:00am.
  • Lei Lei's Bar & Grille will host post round festivites and awards.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds are available for $45.00 per player on the Palmer Course and $35.00 per player on the Fazio Course for two (2) weeks prior to the event (October 9-20, 2017). PGA Professionals who wish to have a practice round shall call the Turtle Bay Professional Staff to reserve a tee time.  Tee times can be made anytime on weekdays and after 12:00 PM on the weekend prior to the event. To schedule a tee time call the pro shop at (808) 293-8574 and let them know that you are a participant in the 2017 Turtle Bay Open. 

DRIVING RANGE HOURS

6:00am - 5:00pm

PLAY-OFF PROCEDURE

Ties for each division individual champion will be determined by an on course play-off. All players involved in a play-off must complete all play-off holes. No play-off hole shall begin after 5:00 PM. If the play-off is not feasible or cannot be concluded due to time constraints, ties will be broken by scorecard matching using the procedure in the USGA Rules of Golf Appendix 1, 10.
