4th of July 2013 Festivities
Turtle Bay Resort is hosting an Independence Day celebration of epic proportions with an all-day lineup of free family-friendly activities, entertainment, and fireworks. The resort’s Fourth of July celebration is open to the public and will include food booths; a Primo Island Lager beer garden; prize giveaways; family activities including Hawaiian hōlua sledding, board carving and a water slide; and live music from John Cruz, Typical Hawaiians, Kamaka Fernandez, Kapena and more. Wrap up the day with a fireworks show and an after party at Turtle Bay Resort’s Surfer, The Bar. Grab a paddle and join the paddleboard and stand up paddle fun on the Da Hui Paddle Race long course (7 miles), starting at the resort, or the short course (4 miles), starting at Sunset Beach, with both finishing at Waimea Bay. More than 500 participants are expected to take part. Or watch the pros while enjoying some of the nation’s top industry vendor booths and demos at the stand-up paddleboard expo.

1 p.m. Da Hui Paddle Race awards ceremony

8 p.m. Fireworks; blankets and low-back chairs welcome; no coolers
9 p.m. After party at Surfer, The Bar
Activities are free and open to the public. Locally sourced cuisine and a variety of beverages will be available for purchase from select vendors.
RACE: Race pre-registration is available online at dahuipaddlerace.com ; $30 individual, $40 team. All pre-registrants will receive a gift. Awards for top three places in each division. Same-day registration will be available at Turtle Bay Resort or Sunset Beach race start locations.
