NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY
Top Ten Best Places on the North Shore to Snap Iconic Shots
The North Shore is full of amazing places to photograph. Each beach and attraction has its own characteristics… especially when viewing it through a lens. Anyone who is interested in North Shore photography will find endless opportunities to catch a perfect shot each time.
Check out Turtle Bay's TOP 10 Shot list:
1: For the adventure-lover, there is no better way to shoot a 2000-foot waterfall from a hovering vantage point so close you can almost feel the spray - snap a pic from the seat of a Paradise Helicopter.
2: Hike or bike out to snap a shot of the Banyan Tree, the site used in many episodes of LOST and the Mermaids Lair in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'. Not to mention it is simply a natural phenomena to behold.
3: From the top of Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau, the largest heiau (religious site or temple) on O'ahu, covering almost 2 acres. The name is translated as "hill of escape" and you can see the entire North Shore - a great opportunity for a panoramic.
4: Underwater, of course. The must have shot of you swimming through the ocean blue - makes for a great facebook profile pic.
5: The Haleiwa Sign - Pull your car over to the side of the road and take a picture, the sign was created to capture the spirit of the Historic Haleiwa Town. Snapping this pic is on everyone's must-take list, for locals and globals alike.
6: "Sunset at Sunset". Sunset Beach has it all, broad ocean views, plenty of sand, great people watching, and getting that shot of the sun dipping into the ocean is almost a guarantee.
7: Enjoying a Matsumoto's Shave Ice. Matusomoto's is a North Shore landmark, established in 1951 and yes, worth the wait in line.
8: Waihi is an attraction of great interest and enjoyment, an amazing 45-foot waterfall and is approximately 3/4 of a mile from the park entrance of Waimea Valley. There is plenty of flora and fauna to shoot as you trek back towards Waihi, through areas where Ancient Peoples once lived.
9: From the Pineapple Fields high above the North Shore. The views of Mt. Ka'ala, down to the little towns of Waialua and Haleiwa, coupled with the texture of thousands of pineapple plants makes for an incredible shot.
10: Honu. Hawaii's Green Sea Turtles can be found in the waters close to shore and sunning themselves on beaches all along the North Shore but most frequently at Alii Beach Park in Haleiwa. It's an Oahu photographer's dream.
