Six Steamy Scenes Filmed at Turtle Bay Resort

Want our autograph? Turtle Bay Resort has starred in several movies and television shows.

It’s not surprising, our 1,300 acres of paradise truly make it the perfect backdrop for blockbuster hits.

Grab some popcorn! Some are funny, some are tearjerkers.

Here are six love stories filmed at Turtle Bay Resort.

1. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

If you have seen the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall you know there are some pretty hot and heavy, steamy scenes -  so we won’t post them here.
The majority of the rated-R film was shot at Turtle Bay Resort. When watching the flick, you’ll spot our beach cottages, wedding pavilion, Roy’s Beach House, Kuilima Cove and much more.
Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Jason Segal and Russel Brand called Turtle Bay home for weeks during the filming and we must admit, it was fun having them around.

2. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Zac Efron, Adam DeVine, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza starred in this comedy based on a true story about two brothers who needed dates to their little sister’s wedding.
Most of the film was shot on location at Turtle Bay Resort. The film is Rated - R so we are sharing the trailer to keep it PG 13.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Our famous Banyan tree was the star in this love scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides. The Banyan was transformed into the backdrop for a steamy kiss between Syrena the mermaid and missionary Phillip Swift. In the movie, as an injured Philip tries putting water on his wounds, the mermaid Syrena offers to save him. But the missionary only asks for her forgiveness because of what he unintentionally put her through with Blackbeard. Touched, Syrena has Phillip ask for a mermaid kiss, which is said to prevent one from drowning. The smooch is filmed with the Banyan in the background.  Syrena then pulls Phillip underwater with her to heal him as they swim off together through the pools to freedom.

4. Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Hunger Games had our hearts pumping and us sitting on the edge of our seats with all the uncertainty and action.
With death looming around every corner, it was refreshing to have true comradery and love between Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence)  and Peeta (
Josh Hutcherson).
Katniss tells Peeta she needs him and they kiss while the two are sitting together on the shore of Turtle Bay Resort’s Kawela Bay.

5. Jumanji

Turtle Bay Resort was the basecamp for the stars during the filming of Jumanji. In the opening scene of the film,  the dangerous board game is found on the shore of one of our beaches.
Our Banyan tree was the site for
Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough or Nick Jonas’ tree house.
But we are talking about romance, so here’s Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson planting an awkward Kiss on Karen Gillan in the jungle. Does it remind you of your first smooch?

6. Same Time Next Christmas

Lea Michele spent weeks at Turtle Bay Resort while filming this flick that took place at our hotel.
The hotel plays a big part in this love story, as the official resort where the two main characters met and have spent Christmas together since they were kids.
After being separated by distance and years, the two reunite at the same Hawaii resort ( Turtle Bay ) years later and the old chemistry between them flares up – but circumstances conspire to keep them apart.

Which movie filmed at Turtle Bay Resort is your favorite?

These are only six of several films shot at Turtle Bay Resort. You can see more films and TV shows that used our resort on Oahu’s North Shore as a backdrop here.
